[7946] The Dallas Morning News, Saturday, May 5, 1979 Singer, instructor Mrs. O'Conner dies Sannie A. O'Conner, 79, of Dallas, a singer and musical instructor, died Friday in Presbyterian Hospital after a short illness. Funeral will be at 1 p.m. Monday, at the Sparkman-Hillcrest Funera lChapel, 7405 W. Northwest Highway. After graduating from Texas Christian University in Fort Worthwith a degree in music and attending the Bush Conservatory of Music in Chicago, Mrs. O'Conner gained national recognition in New York City and Chicago as a soprano. After her success on the stage she moved to Dallas in 1924 and became a voice instructor. Mrs. O'Conner later became the chairwoman of the voice department at the Hockaday School in Dallas, in addition to giving private voice lessons. Mrs. O 'Conner was a member of the Dallas Music Teachers Association, the Musical Arts Club and the Melody Club and the National Association of Teachers of Singing. She is survived by one son, James O. O'Conner of Houston.
