[4087] Benjamin first settled in Lebanon, Ct., May 13, 1706, he sets Nathanial Phelps of Westfiled, Mass., three acres of land in the southerly side of Westfield town, in the field called the plain. This deed is witnessed by Israel, Joseph, and Jedidiah Phelps. He purchased land of other parties in Lebanon, and probably settled there. Here we find the birth of his first child recorded. In 1701 he removed to Mansfield, where the rest of his children were born, and where he d. April 16, 1731. He died intestate, and his brothers Joseph and Jedidiah were apponted his administrators 28 Jan., 1732. His brother, Jedediah Phelps, was later appointed guardian for his son Benjamin. In probate records, 7 July, 1737, reference is made to his six daughters. -- Phelps and Servin, Vol 2., p. 1285
