Recently more information has come to light about Alexander McRae. I was working with a descendant of Alexander McRae, A Maxwell and Gloria descent through Alexander's child, Caroline H. McRae that married a They have been traveling where the McRae and well families lived in Canada and the U.S. They found the place that Alexander was in the of Canada, which was Walsingham, Norfolk Canada. They also found that to the biography on Alexander, he fought in the war on the U.S side, prior coming into the USA. We were never able to figure this out, but Max able to pull his pension papers and get a copy of them and from them gave the new additional info that I will now write.
Alexander McRae: Burial: 'McRae': Alexander was the son of Selenda (Phelps) McRae of Canada and Scotland (Christopher Scotland, Canada).
He came to Austin Co. Michigan in 1860. He had married daughter of Jonathon and Tamezon (Well) Rogers of New England (New Jonathon and Mass. and Canada for Tamison) and Canada in 1844.
Alexander McRae, was one of the best known and highly esteemed citizens of the part of this county for over 30 years. This was copied from the newspaper obituary in the possession of Fern Hunt Foster of Brown City, Michigan. She was a grand daughter of Alexander McRae. Fern stated that it was the largest funeral known in parts. General: Alexander McRae donated the land for the Mt. Pleasant He had buried two of his young children, Phillip born 7 Mar 1860 died 1864 and Lillie Bell born 13 Sep 1861 died Aug 21, 1864. they were the be buried on the hill north of their home and later became the cemetery area, this was on his original land grant from United states was called the McRae Cemetery for many years. (Morris Merrith) Behind cemetery he had owned and operated a sawmill when he first settled land. It was on this section of land where Caroline taught school in home. When he was 21 years of age, Mr. McRae engaged as an assistant mill, and later was employed on a farm after which he became a soldier regular army of the United States, (Indian War) whence he was disability after a connection there with of two years and 3 months.
He joined May 1840 at age of 22 years, eyes hazle, hair black, complexion 10'' 1/4'. St. Marys, Canada, trade carpenter. Inducted in Jackson Hunt. Member of the 4th Artillery Co. I, discharged 31 Aug 1842 for a disabality. Was station at Fort Monroe VA., and a Corporal.

[2910] Malcolm III was born abt 1031 and founded the house of Canmore (Caen Mor, or great head) because of the large size of his head. His line ruled Scotland for more than 200 years, and consolidated the power of the Scottish monarchy. He was the son of Duncan I, who was killed (1040) by Macbeth. Malcolm lived in exile until he defeated and killed (1057) Macbeth near Lumphanan in Aberdeenshire. He succeeded to the throne in 1058, and married Margaret ca. 1068-1070.
Malcolm was succeeded briefly by his brother Donald Bane.
