Phelps Family History From England to America
If you have researched the Clagget or Claget family history for any length of time, you have undoubtedly heard of the work of Brice Clagett of Maryland. Brice, a Washington lawyer for more than 40 years, and an avid genealogist, died April 8, 2008 of cardiac arrest at George Washington University Hospital.
It was his ambition to publish Seven Centuries: Ancestors of Twenty Generations of John Brice de Treville Clagett and Ann Calvert Brooke Clagett. Mr. Clagett practiced law at Covington & Burling in Washington D.C. until 2002.

Mr. Clagett told me he had enough material for four volumes on the Clagetts of 1000 pages each. Each time I spoke to him, he reported that the first volume is "several years away." We are looking into the status of his research and hope that we might announce its availability to Claggett researchers.
