What's New on the Phelps Family History Site
New Additions and Updates
During the month of June, 2008, we:
- Made available for download the Updated Index to the Phelps Family in America.
- Implemented a long overdue overhaul of the site design.
- Extensively edited content for duplications and organizational usefulness.
- Added a new section on research seeking to identify the geographic origins of William and George Phelps.
- Added 3785 individuals to the family history section, which now totals 17,472 individuals. This includes 5768 families, including 714 sources, and representing over 2000 surnames in this database, totaling 2833 pages of family history.
We hope the changes more fully and easily reveal the depth and breadth of information available on The Phelps Family in America web site. As always, we welcome your feedback.

New Notable Ancestors
Added new short biographies of Richard Phelps, Bell-founder for Churches Throughout England and Samuel Shethar Phelps, Jurist, Congressman, and Senator. Also added in the past year: Delos Porter Phelps, Lawyer and U.S. Assistant Treasurer and Anson Green Phelps Merchant and philanthropist. These are individuals who have contributed to shaping our society in some significant fashion, like Mary Phelps Jacob, better known as Caresse Crosby and the original patent holder of today's modern brassiere.
